Motherboard Memoirs: Mubarak's Internship Experience

Dive into Mubarak Olanrewaju’s review of the Motherboard Internship Program. From the application process to working on projects, Mubarak offers some insights into his growth as a Product Marketing Analyst.

A Man on a Mission

I applied for the Motherboard Internship Program because Motherboard's idea of an employee-benefit marketplace captivated me. I had to be part of their mission to empower businesses of all sizes to care for their employees, and I was certain that my skills would be valuable to the company.

The application process was thorough. It wasn't just about resumes and references. Motherboard challenged me to analyze their OKRs for the next quarter, showing my problem-solving approach. Then came a meeting with the founder, Lekan Olude, where we discussed my reasons for wanting to join Motherboard. Finally, with Lade Falobi, the Product Growth Manager, we talked about my strengths and aspirations to determine if I was the right fit for the team.

A Puzzle and a New Mantra

I was excited when I received my acceptance letter. I couldn't wait to bring my ideas to life and contribute to Motherboard's vision.

I had a ton of information to digest during onboarding, but thanks to the welcoming team and structured process, I felt like I was piecing together an interesting puzzle.

My first project made me a bit nervous, but instead of letting the jitters take over, I focused on learning things that would "move the needle." My vision document helped clarify the project's direction, and questioning every assumption became my mantra.

Teamwork and Lessons

Throughout the project, I collaborated with fantastic colleagues - Samuel, Moyemi, Al-ameen and Emmanuel. We bounced ideas, tackled challenges, and learned from each other.

I enjoyed tracking user journeys with UTM links, demystifying Google Analytics, and understanding the intricate dance of marketing technology—each step sharpened my skills and broadened my perspective.

My Motherboard internship experience was a transformative one that ignited my passion for purpose-driven work. Beyond technical expertise, I learned crucial business and management lessons: prioritizing tasks and asking the right questions to unlock deeper truths. These invaluable tools will shape my future endeavors.

I'm forever grateful for the lessons and connections forged at Motherboard! 🤝
